Carnival Corporation and the Costa Group will increase their staff by hiring around 4,500 Italian crew members for their ships planned for 2022 and will also be able to support existing ships.
Carnival Corporation is one of the largest foreign investors in Italy, currently employing around 5,000 Italians. The Costa Group, comprising Costa Cruises, Aida Cruises, and Costa Asia, has 27 ships and boasts the largest fleet of cruise ships sailing under the Italian flag.
“Italy is a strategic country for our growth,” commented Arnold Donald, CEO of Carnival Corporation, adding, “Since 1990 we have built 68 ships in Italian shipyards for various brands in our group and we have another 10 on order or under construction.”.
