In recent days, the German port city once again confirmed its position in the cruise industry, with seven cruise ships on the Elbe River during the Hamburg Port Festival. And just three days earlier, the MSC Preziosa cruise ship made its maiden call at the Port of Hamburg. This marks the beginning of a spectacular summer cruise season.
As in previous years, the Elbe River served as the backdrop for a unique celebration. The Port of Hamburg Festival, held to mark the port's 828th anniversary, attracted over one million visitors, making it the world's largest port festival. Over four days, the MS Amadea, MS Astor, MSC Preziosa, and four AIDA ships—AIDAprima, AIDAvita, AIDAluna, and AIDAsol—arrived in the Port of Hamburg, providing passengers and guests with an unparalleled experience. AIDA, as a sponsor of the festival, presented a spectacular fireworks display coinciding with the arrival of the AIDAprima, which was celebrating its first anniversary in the Port of Hamburg.
The new MSC Preziosa celebrated its maiden arrival in the Port of Hamburg just two days before the port festival. MSC Cruises is now positioning its newest fleet member in Hamburg. The MSC Preziosa is one of the largest passenger ships to ever arrive in the Port of Hamburg and will begin its voyages to the most beautiful destinations in Northern and Western Europe between May and November.
Hamburg is one of Europe's most popular cruise ports. An increasing number of cruise ships will be making their maiden calls at the Port of Hamburg, including the Norwegian Jade (2,466 passengers) arriving on June 4th, the Independence of the Seas (3,634 passengers) arriving on July 12th, and Silversea Cruises' Silver Wind, which will call at Hamburg on September 10th.
For several years, Hamburg has been promoting itself as a cruise destination, and now the Hamburg-based cruise line TUI Cruises is planning a very special event: the company's newest ship, the Mein Schiff 6, will be unveiled on June 1st at Hamburg's new Elbphilharmonie. The ceremony will be presided over by Iveta Apkalna, principal organist of the Elbphilharmonie concert hall. The presentation of the newest member of the TUI Cruises fleet will take place in a unique setting that will highlight Hamburg's new architectural and cultural landmark.
