April 23rd was a historic day for Royal Caribbean International. The company launched its inaugural cruise to Cuba aboard its newly renovated ship, the Empress of the Seas. The ship has a gross tonnage of 48,563, a beam of 30 meters, and a length of 210 meters. The cruise ship features 11 decks, two swimming pools, four jacuzzis, a gym, a spa, a beauty salon, a show lounge, six bars, a casino, shops, a children's play area, and 795 staterooms, accommodating up to 1,602 passengers at double occupancy.
