Norwegian Cruise Line announced today that the company will begin hiring certified lifeguards for all family pools across its fleet. These lifeguards will be trained and certified by the American Red Cross in lifesaving measures and will monitor the pools during their scheduled operating hours. Lifeguards will begin working this summer on the cruise line's four largest ships (the Norwegian Escape, Norwegian Getaway, Norwegian Breakaway, and Norwegian Epic) and on the remaining ships in the fleet in early 2018.
“Norwegian has had pool monitors on our larger ships since 2015, and now we intend to go a step further to ensure the safety of our youngest guests by adding certified lifeguards to our fleet,” said Andy Stuart, President and Chief Executive Officer of Norwegian Cruise Line. “While parents are always on the front lines supervising their children in the water, we felt it was important to offer this additional measure across our entire fleet.”.
In addition to uniformed lifeguards, Norwegian will also begin offering complimentary life jackets for adults and children on the line's four largest ships. Parents can request the life jackets at the ship's pool towel drop-off point during the day.
