CroisiEurope inaugurates a new ship, the MS Miguel Torga, in Porto with the Schmitter family and in the presence of its godmother, Ms. Isabel Ferreira de Castro, Director of Tourism of Porto and Northern Portugal, and its godfather, Mr. Domingo Carvas, Mayor of the city of Sabrosa.
Miguel Torga was a renowned novelist and poet, born in the city of Sabrosa (December 8, 1907 – January 17, 1995). He is considered one of the most important figures in 20th-century Portuguese literature. CroisiEurope has chosen to pay a beautiful tribute to poetry by naming its latest flagship after him.
Built in 2016 at the Sambre et Meuse shipyards (Namur), MS Miguel Torga is the fifth vessel to join the fleet that will sail on the Douro and the second with a 5-anchor category.
Fully equipped and completed in Strasbourg, it boasts state-of-the-art technology and modern décor with refined shapes and colors that lend it a contemporary feel. Furthermore, the designer furnishings and contemporary style contribute to a fresh aesthetic where brightness and open spaces are optimized to ensure maximum passenger comfort on this cruise.
This three-deck vessel, 80 meters long and 11.40 meters wide, has a capacity for 132 passengers in its 66 double cabins (including 4 suites), each with individual air conditioning. All cabins are exterior-facing and equipped with a separable double bed, wardrobe, flat-screen TV, hairdryer, and en-suite bathroom. It also features a cabin adapted for guests with reduced mobility, a panoramic lounge and restaurant, a boutique, a large sun deck, and a 24-meter swimming pool to provide maximum comfort in the common areas. The crew consists of 32 professionals who attend to passengers' needs with meticulous attention and the utmost care.

From April 2017, the MS Miguel Torga will sail the Douro River, crossing Portugal from the ocean to the Spanish border. It will offer 6- to 8-day cruises to discover the Douro Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a land of wine and history, a region brimming with treasures that boasts one of Europe's most beautiful canyons with spectacular scenery.
