The city of Ferrol begins April with a visit from the cruise ship "Balmoral," scheduled to arrive on April 7th. Coming from Southampton, and carrying 1,200 passengers and crew, this cruise ship from the British shipping company Fred Olsen returns to Ferrol a year after its first visit.
The “Balmoral”, built in 1998, was acquired by Fred Olsen Cruises in 2006. Twelve months later, the British company subjected it to a complete refurbishment at the Cadiz shipyards, from where it emerged in January 2008 with a new look, both inside and out.
“Oriana”, the next ship to visit us. This cruise ship from the British shipping company P&O Cruises will dock on April 14th, carrying 3,000 passengers and crew, who will be able to experience Holy Week in Ferrol, declared of International Tourist Interest.
Built in 1995, the “Oriana” was the first new ship commissioned by P&O Cruises, and also the first to be designed specifically for the British cruise market. It is the smallest of the seven ships currently in service with this company and the one that has been in the fleet the longest.
The cruise ship “Hamburg” will be the last to call in April. Its visit is scheduled for the 20th, almost a year after its first stop in the city. Currently operated by Plantours & Partner, it caters exclusively to the German cruise market and will bring 420 passengers and 170 crew members to Ferrol during its stop.
