The captain of the Pullmantur Cruises ship Zenith, Dimitrios S. Papatsatsis, along with his officers and crew, rescued three people adrift on the night of March 6-7 after their vessel's engine failed. The rescue took place in the Caribbean Sea, while the Zenith was sailing from Antigua to St. Maarten on its 'Caribbean Islands' route.
After receiving an emergency message, the Zenith approached the area where the three people were located to rescue them. Due to the strong winds in the area (more than 45 knots) and the heavy swell (3.5 meters), and in order to guarantee their safety, the decision was made to proceed with their evacuation using one of the Zenith's lifeboats.
Once on board, the three people were attended to by the Zenithy's doctor and escorted to their cabins, where they were able to rest and spend the night.
