CroisiEurope, the world's largest river cruise company, has announced that its second propeller-driven ship, the MS Elbe Princesse, launched in Berlin in April 2016, was voted River Cruise Ship of 2016 by the Kreuzfahrt Guide 2017. Thomas Goetten of Anton Goetten Reisen, CroisiEurope's general agent in Germany, accepted the award during a ceremony held on Thursday, November 16, in Hamburg.
The jury, composed of 12 tourism professionals and authors of the guide, awarded CroisiEurope for the construction of its new propeller-driven ships, and especially for the MS Elbe Princesse, which connects Berlin to Prague with 9-day cruises. During the award ceremony, the jury spokesperson highlighted the ingenuity of the new process based on an old technique and the Schmitter family's boldness in undertaking this innovative project.
It's worth noting that the MS Elbe Princesse is the company's second propeller-driven ship, the first being the MS Loire Princesse. Both were built by the STX shipyard in Saint-Nazaire under the direction of Patrick Schmitter. A third propeller-driven ship, also destined for Elba, is currently under construction.
With this distinction on its fortieth anniversary, CroisiEurope confirms its position as a leader in European cruises and demonstrates its passion for sailing.
