Silversea celebrates the start of the one-year countdown to the maiden voyage of the Silver Cloud, converted into an ice-ready expedition vessel.
The renovation and conversion from a classic ship to an expedition vessel will be completed in November 2017. The maiden voyage will take place in Antarctica.
The ship will have a capacity of 260 people in non-polar regions and only 200 people in polar regions, meaning that guests will be able to enjoy a personalized and exclusive service.
All suites will have sea views, and over 80% will feature a private terrace. The relaxed luxury décor will be reflected in the soft-colored furnishings and upholstery. These suites will be the largest in Silversea's expedition fleet.
“With one year to go until Silver Cloud ’s maiden voyage as an ice-class expedition ship, preparations are already underway to ensure Silversea remains at the forefront of luxury expedition cruising, setting its own industry standard,” said Conrad Combrink, Silversea’s Vice President of Expedition Planning & Strategic Development . “We look forward to welcoming both new and returning guests as Silver Cloud embarks on a new adventure.”
Silversea has recently published a digital catalog, Silver Cloud 2018, outlining its itineraries following its transition to an expedition fleet. During this period, the ship will sail over 70,500 nautical miles, visit nearly 190 destinations, call at more than 380 ports, and make over 30 visits to new destinations. The fleet will embark on 11 Antarctic and 8 Arctic voyages; sail under London's Tower Bridge; discover the history and culture of the British Isles; explore the Norwegian fjords and the Panama Canal; enjoy culinary discoveries in Europe and South America; and spend Christmas in the Falkland Islands.
The ship will have 18 new zodiacs that will allow simultaneous exploration excursions in groups of up to 14 people.
