To coincide with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Costa Cruises has launched a series of awareness activities on board its Mediterranean ships. These initiatives, which began on October 10, are designed to support the “Pink is Good” project, developed by the Umberto Veronesi Foundation.
Thanks to a fundraising campaign promoted by Costa, all passengers will be able to actively contribute to funding a scholarship for a young Italian researcher. Simultaneously, an onboard awareness campaign will be conducted to promote the mission and values of “Pink is Good,” a project of the Umberto Veronesi Foundation.
“Thanks to the forward-thinking vision and support of partners like Costa Cruises, we can provide the support they deserve to the growing number of researchers who have decided to dedicate their lives to the study and treatment of breast cancer, a disease that affects thousands of women every year,” explained Dr. Mónica Ramaioli, General Director of the Umberto Veronesi Foundation.
“We are proud to support the “Pink is Good” campaign. A total of nine ships in our fleet are involved in the initiative. The goal is twofold: to make a significant contribution to the Foundation’s awareness efforts and to provide tangible support for its research by donating all proceeds generated from these events during the month of October,” said Stefania Lallai, Director of Sustainability and External Relations at Costa Cruises.
Pink is the campaign's color and will therefore set the tone for the activities taking place on Costa ships participating in the project. Among the special events being held is "Pink Day," a day when all passengers can make donations to the cause and help advance research, for example, by purchasing one of the non-alcoholic pink cocktails or by buying a pink mask for the onboard masquerade party, "Notte in Maschera" (Masked Night). In addition, the company is organizing a marathon to be held on the ships' exterior decks.
