The Fred Olsen shipping company will be in the capital's docks on September 10, 2018. The Norwegian company is celebrating its 170th anniversary and is organizing special itineraries that are already on sale, including activities in the city, and meetings and discussions between travelers and crew at the docks.
The fleet of four ships that the Norwegian shipping company Olsen Cruise Lines will bring to Cadiz consists of the ships 'Balmoral', 'Braemar', 'Boudicca' and 'Black Watch'.
This event will include the opportunity to visit the four ships docked in the city and meet the captains and crew; unique menus, created especially for the event; celebrations on the dock itself; and schedules with "exciting shore tours".
If forecasts hold true, the Port of Cádiz will close 2016 with a similar number of cruise ship calls to the previous year, around 280 compared to 289 last year. It is expected that this year the figure of 400,000 cruise passengers in Cádiz will be easily surpassed again. In 2015, there were more than 410,000 tourists, not counting the crew, which would add another 150,000 people.
On the other hand, the Port Authority continues to promote the Port of Cádiz as a port of call and a base for embarking and disembarking cruise ships. Just a few days ago, it concluded its participation in Seatrade Med, held in Tenerife, and in November it will participate in the International Cruise Summit in Madrid.
