The Prinsendam, from Holland America Line, has docked at the port of Castelló with 729 American passengers on board, the first of two cruise ships scheduled for that week. The second will be the Silver Cloud, from Silversea Cruises, which will be docking at PortCastelló for the first time, carrying 300 European cruise passengers.
The welcome display has been coordinated by the Cruise Traffic Promotion Committee, which includes the Castellón City Council, the Castellón Provincial Council, the Chamber of Commerce, the Valencian Tourism Agency, the PortCastelló Foundation and the Castellón Port Authority.
The arrival of these two cruise ships coincides with PortCastelló's participation in the 11th Seatrade Cruise Med Trade Fair and Congress, held from September 21st to 23rd in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. PortCastelló's presence at this year's event confirms the importance of the cruise industry for the Port of Castellón. PortCastelló will be present at the Ports of Spain institutional stand, under the slogan "Blue Carpet: Step into Spain on a blue carpet.".
The Seatrade Cruise Med trade fair and congress is the most important event dedicated to the cruise industry in Europe. Previous editions have been held in European coastal cities such as Barcelona, Marseille, Cannes, and Venice.
Participation in this fair is part of the policy set by the president of the Port Authority of Castellón, Francisco Toledo, to place PortCastelló on the cruise map, together with the Valencian Tourism Agency and the shipping companies "to consolidate an attractive offer and increase the number of cruises that arrive at the port of Castellón; the port of Castellón wants to be an ally of the tourism sector," he said.
