The Monarch ship has arrived in Europe for the first time under the Pullmantur flag and with some changes to the itineraries, it comes to cover the routes of Northern Europe after the departure of the Empress from the company.
The ship is a sister ship to the Sovereign, although, as is typical, it features changes, both structural and those made during its latest upgrade under the management of the Spanish company. The Monarch is the company's largest ship to date, with a capacity for 2,752 passengers and 803 crew members. It has 12 decks, including bars, restaurants, and a show lounge.
Passengers can stay in one of its 418 interior cabins, 660 exterior cabins with windows, or 62 cabins with balconies. The ship also boasts 62 suites, a casino, a game room, a gym, a spa, a beauty salon, Wi-Fi, and extensive facilities for children, including a climbing wall and sports courts.
The Waves Yacht Club:
One of the new features compared to the Sovereign is "The Waves." This Yacht Club area is exclusively for Suite guests, although it can be booked individually. The Yacht Club offers a bar and sun deck with exclusive access, Wi-Fi, and a hot and cold food area open until midnight. The Monarch, after its voyage from the Caribbean to Lisbon to continue its journey to Waremünde, had embarkations in Lisbon, Vigo, and Bilbao, and from June to September will operate the following itineraries:
Baltic Capitals I and Baltic Capitals II:
This cruise offers a journey through the various countries bordering the Baltic Sea, including Finland, Russia, Estonia, Sweden, and Germany. The voyage begins in Helsinki, the capital of Finland, and takes you through some of the most historic cities on the European continent over 7 days and 8 nights. The trip includes two days in St. Petersburg, Russia's second-largest city, founded by Peter the Great and the country's former capital for many years. A visit to Tallinn, the jewel of the Baltic, which was destroyed in World War II and rebuilt to its former glory, is also included. Aboard the Monarch, passengers will explore Stockholm, located on the country's east coast, considered one of the cleanest and most beautiful cities in Europe. The cruise concludes in Rostock, Germany, a city with medieval architecture and one of the most important ports on the Baltic. This same itinerary is also available in reverse, departing from Rostock and ending in Helsinki.
Northern Fjords I and Norwegian Fjords:
Nature lovers will visit the most important corners of the Nordic country on a cruise departing from Trondheim, the oldest city in Norway, or Rostock, at the cruiser's choice. Trondheim is the third largest city in Norway and lends its name to one of the most impressive fjords. In this city with Viking traditions, the past and present coexist, offering an unparalleled atmosphere. For seven days, the Monarch will visit Ålesund, Olden, and Flåm, located at the foot of the Aurland Fjord and the starting point for the Flåm Railway, one of the country's most popular tourist attractions, which travels 20 km surrounded by mountains and breathtaking landscapes. After leaving Flåm, the ship will head to Bergen and Stavanger, where passengers can continue to admire the natural scenery and enjoy the history, culture, and urban life of these cities before arriving in Rostock, its final destination.
Classic Treasures.
On this itinerary, Rostock once again serves as the departure port for the cruise that will sail through Northern Europe and visit some of its most charming cities. The first stop on this journey will be Copenhagen, a vibrant city full of contrasts. After a day at sea, the Monarch will arrive in Ijmuiden, 30 kilometers from Amsterdam. There, passengers will enjoy the canals, characteristic of this region, and will have the option of visiting the capital. Dover and Le Havre will be the next stops before arriving in Bilbao, the final destination. Dover (London) is known for its lively nightlife and rich cultural offerings. In Le Havre, passengers can admire the iconic "Gateway to the Ocean," a building located at the mouth of the Seine River in northwestern France. Upon arrival in Bilbao, cruisers can visit the Guggenheim Museum, savor the city's cuisine, and experience its traditions.
In September, the Monarch begins its repositioning operation towards the Caribbean, and will therefore resume calls at Spanish cities. The Monarch is scheduled to follow classic itineraries such as the Dutch Antilles and the Legendary Caribbean, but will also include stops in Costa Rica, Panama, and Colombia.
The Monarch incorporates into its European season the menus designed by Paco Roncero as well as new shows such as the one dedicated to ABBA.
