Carnival Cruise Line has ordered the construction of two new 180,000 gross registered tonnage ships that will arrive in 2020 and 2022 and will become the largest in the company's fleet.
The ships will have an approximate capacity of 5,200 passengers and are being built by the Finnish shipyard Turku Meyer in Turku, Finland. The company has 12 ships in its current fleet that were built in Finland, including its eight Fantasy-class ships and four Spirit-class ships.
“These new orders demonstrate the extraordinary future that awaits Carnival Cruise Line, with the opportunity to introduce new experiences and features on cruises with the goal of improving customer satisfaction,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.
Details of the design and itineraries for the new ships will be announced soon.
