The Carnival cruise group is strengthening its presence in A Coruña and visiting the port to analyze the service offered by this rapidly expanding Atlantic destination

Carnival is the world's leading cruise group, comprising prominent cruise lines with fleets of some of the most iconic ships in the market. The Port of A Coruña, where Carnival has a significant presence, was visited today by Tim Mathieson, an executive from the company's UK division. Accompanied by the Port Authority Director, Juan Diego Pérez Freire, as well as staff from the commercial department and Corunna Cruise Terminal, he toured the port's cruise facilities to learn more about a destination where Carnival has an increasingly strong presence.

This year, 22 stops are expected in A Coruña from this leading cruise traffic group, which will increase its presence to 26 dockings in 2017.

Tour operators and staff from the A Coruña Tourism Consortium also attended the visit. Together with representatives from the Port Authority, they explained to Mathieson the services cruise ship passengers receive upon arrival at the port. During his tour of the terminal facilities and the Transatlantic Pier, the executive inquired about the security and passenger reception systems and highlighted the pier's prime location in the heart of A Coruña. He also wanted to learn about the routes taken by tourists upon disembarkation, as well as the most popular tourist and leisure activities and offerings. He particularly appreciated the transformation of the Marina and Parrote area following its pedestrianization, noting that it significantly improves cruise passengers' access to the city center and, more generally, enhances the perception of A Coruña as a welcoming and accessible destination for travelers.

Tim Mathieson, the UK division manager, toured the Transatlantic terminal and dock to learn firsthand about the Port's offerings and services, and highlighted the pedestrianization of the city center.

The Carnival group has made a strong commitment to A Coruña as an Atlantic destination on its international routes. The UK division includes the Cunard and P&O cruise lines, which boast world-class ships, both in terms of category and iconic status. Examples include the Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth, both from Cunard, and the Britannia, from P&O. This ship, which was chartered last year and made one of the stops on its inaugural route in A Coruña, will return to the city next Tuesday, July 19. It has a total of four calls scheduled for this year.

Carnival UK owns the Cunard and P&O shipping companies, which have iconic ships in their fleets such as the Queen Victoria or the Britannia, which will visit the city again next Tuesday the 19th.

Carnival's commitment to A Coruña resulted in a total of 22 scheduled port calls this year, in addition to those from Cunard and P&O. This number will rise to 26 calls in 2017, with new arrivals from their most important ships.
