The ports of Andalusia will strengthen the promotion and marketing of cruise tourism and will have a joint participation of these facilities in the most important fairs of the sector worldwide that will be held soon in the USA (Miami) and Europe (Tenerife) as reported by the Minister of Tourism and Sport, Francisco Javier Fernández.

Andalusia consolidated its positive trend in the cruise tourism sector in 2015, welcoming 658 ships and 875,000 passengers, representing increases of 5.1% and 4%, respectively, compared to the previous year. Malaga, with almost 418,503 passengers, and the Bay of Cadiz, with 411,453, were the most active regional ports, showing growth of 2.6% and almost 8%, respectively.
Regarding the tourist profile, the average daily expenditure last year was €33.3 per person, with most of their spending on restaurants and shopping accounting for 70% of their budget. Another significant statistic is that nine out of ten visitors to Andalusia were foreign, primarily from the United Kingdom, Germany, and France.
This type of traveler also exhibits a high loyalty rate and helps to reduce seasonality, as arrival periods are concentrated between April and May, and between September and November, outside of peak season. Furthermore, cruise passengers visiting Andalusia rated the destination 9 out of 10, one of the highest scores among tourists visiting the region.
