Royal Caribbean adds high-speed internet service at sea

Royal Caribbean International has announced that VOOM, its exclusive high-speed internet service and the fastest at sea, will be available on all 24 ships in its fleet, wherever they sail in the world. VOOM will allow Royal Caribbean passengers to stay connected at all times.

“VOOM is revolutionizing the onboard experience for our passengers, but also for our crew, and has even influenced the industry,” said Michael Bayley, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean International. “Everything our travelers and crew members can do online from home, they will now be able to do onboard our fleet anywhere in the world.”.

The improvements will provide speeds at least twice as fast as before and have also allowed the cruise company to offer lower prices comparable to most hotels.

Passengers sailing on any Royal Caribbean ship will be able to choose between two packages:

  • Surf, which offers passengers the opportunity to browse the Internet, stay in touch via email and share photos of their vacation on social media.
  • Surf and Stream, ideal for passengers who want to watch movies online and listen to music via Netflix or Spotify, or connect via video chat applications such as Skype.
