Thomson Cruises visits Huelva to check the possibilities it offers to cruise ships

Representatives from the British cruise company Thomson Cruises have visited the Port of Huelva and the various tourist attractions offered by the city and province in order to assess the possibilities of this new cruise destination in Southern Europe, given the significant commitment this firm is making to the Huelva destination with the arrival of ten ships to the port this year.

The range of services linked to cruises must be adapted to the specific needs of cruise passengers, such as the availability of specially trained guides for this market segment, specific itineraries suited to the cruise passenger's profile, and adaptation of schedules and visit times to the specific characteristics of the ship's port of call.

Thomson's representatives were accompanied by representatives from the Port of Huelva, a local tour operator, and a representative from the Tourism Board.

The president of the Port Authority of Huelva, Javier Barrero, has highlighted the great effort that the Port of Huelva is dedicating together with other administrations, institutions, organizations and companies to ensure that Huelva begins to consolidate itself as an important cruise stop on the routes of the major companies in the sector.

The Port of Huelva has promoted the creation of a large working group called the Huelva Cruise Network, together with representatives from different organizations who meet regularly to coordinate the arrival and departure of cruise ships.

As for the infrastructure, the South dock stands out, located very close to the entrance of the Port, which has been designed to accommodate cruise traffic with large vessels, while the Levante dock has the advantage of being located five minutes from the city center.
