The luxurious cruise ship The World has made a stop in Santander with a passenger list of 128 cruisers who have their own residence on board and design their own itineraries that they travel around the world throughout the year.

These cruise passengers, mostly Americans and British, are currently on a route that will take them through 16 European countries during the spring and summer months, before continuing on to Southeast Asian countries and Australia.
Coming from Porto, the ship is at the Maritime Station, Admiral's Dock, from where it will depart towards the French port of Bordeaux.
The Councillor for Tourism, Gema Igual, and the President of the Port Authority, Jaime González, highlighted Santander's selection as one of the ports of call for these exclusive travelers and reiterated both institutions' commitment to promoting the arrival of these types of ships to the city. The Councillor emphasized the importance of cruise tourism as a driver of the local economy
The World began sailing in 2002 and is 196 meters long. It offers its passengers a permanent residence at sea and personalized service from its 289 crew members.
It has 12 decks, apartments equipped with up to three cabins and three bathrooms, swimming pools, tennis and paddle courts, a golf course, a hot tub, a casino, and various dining areas.
Passenger traffic is a key sector for the Port of Santander. The Passenger Terminal, located in the city center, and the facilities offered by the ferry and cruise services provide a platform from which passengers have access to a wide range of leisure activities.
