Exchange of commemorative plaques on the Royal Princess during its first stop in Cartagena. The president of the Cartagena Port Authority, Antonio Sevilla, and the ship's captain exchanged the commemorative plaques.
The Royal Princess cruise ship, operated by Princess Cruises, made its maiden call at the port of Cartagena with over 3,500 passengers of various nationalities on board. The ship will return to Cartagena on May 8th and 29th, June 26th, July 17th, August 14th, and September 4th, offering either a 7-day itinerary with disembarkation in Rome (with the option of an overnight stay in Rome and a direct flight to Spain) or a 14-day itinerary with disembarkation in Athens.

Mundomar Cruceros, the cruise line's exclusive representative in Spain and Portugal, has facilitated passenger embarkation in Cartagena for all of these ports of call. It has transformed the Royal Princess's visits to this city into major events.
During the celebrations of this first stop, the President of the Cartagena Port Authority, Antonio Sevilla, and the captain of the Royal Princess made the formal exchange of plaques, with the presence of the Director of Mundomar Cruises, Agustín Quesada, and the Vice Mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, who then gave way to the press conference.
Mundomar Cruises invited more than 50 travel agents from the region and about 30 media representatives, along with local authorities, to a guided tour of all the ship's facilities and lunch in the restaurant.
The Royal Princess welcomed its first twenty tourists to embark from the port of Cartagena.
For the first time in its history, Cartagena became a port of embarkation for a major cruise ship. A historic and tourism milestone for the city.
Local authorities, accompanied by the Director General of the Port Authority, José Pedro Vindel, were received by the Captain of the Royal Princess, Nick Nash, as well as by Agustín Quesada, CEO of Mundomar Cruises. They then exchanged plaques as a sign of gratitude before enjoying a tour of the ship's facilities.
A port city like Cartagena, which welcomes thousands of cruise passengers daily, is now preparing to receive tourists embarking from its port. The Deputy Mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, stated that the City Council celebrates this inaugural stopover and sees it as an opportunity for Cartagena to continue promoting the city and further solidify its position as a leading tourist destination, not only in the Region of Murcia but also nationally.
Castejón emphasized that the City Council, in conjunction with the Port Authority, is working to make Cartagena a home port, a departure point for cruise ships. According to Castejón, this requires infrastructure improvements, but concrete actions are already underway, such as enhancing signage in the city center by translating it into several languages. The Councilor for Tourism added that the Tourism Department is exploring new excursions and routes to offer tourists embarking from Cartagena.
José Pedro Vindel emphasized the significant effort made to construct a new embarkation terminal in record time, representing an investment of €300,000. Vindel also expressed his gratitude to Princess Cruises for choosing Cartagena as its port of embarkation and his hope that many more companies will decide to offer the city's tourist attractions to their passengers.
