The cruise industry will grow over the next ten years to reach 375 ships in 2026, according to the Cruise Industry News Annual Report.
This would represent an increase of more than 55 ships compared to this year. Furthermore, the increase in passengers would be even greater because the ships' capacity is increasing year after year. Currently, it is estimated that cruise ships accommodate 23.6 million passengers. In 10 years, this figure will reach 33.5 million.
North America is expected to reach 16 million passengers by 2026. Currently, it stands at over 13 million. In Europe, this figure will reach 11 million in 2026, 5 million higher than the current level.
The biggest leap for this industry will occur in the Pacific region and the Asian continent, including China, which will experience one of the largest growth rates in the sector, and Australia. This year the figure stands at 4 million and will reach 6.5 million in 2026.
The average annual number of passengers will increase by 8% in the next 5 years and by 4% in 2026, thanks mainly to the launch of new ships.
