The MSC Armonia will dock after virtually guaranteeing the maneuver.
The port of Maó will receive the largest cruise ship to date in Menorca, the 276-meter-long MSC Armonia , on April 25th, carrying nearly 2,000 passengers. This confirms the news received by officials of the Balearic Islands Port Authority (APB) at the Seatrade Global international cruise trade show in Florida.
The arrival of a ship of this length has been made possible thanks to the improvement of the port area carried out by the APB with the removal of the heel of the Cruise Dock (formerly Passenger Dock) and with the dredging that was carried out in 2014.
Furthermore, to ensure the complete safety of the port and the maneuverability of the ship, tests have been carried out with a simulator at the Jovellanos Comprehensive Maritime Safety Center in Gijón, in which the captain of the MSC Armonia himself participated.
For all these reasons, the docking of this large cruise ship has the approval of the Pilots of the port of Maó and the Maritime Authority.
According to forecasts, the MSC Armonía will visit Menorca eleven times, so this ship alone will bring more than 21,000 people to the island throughout the cruise season.
