The new Pinnacle-Class will feature new features and places to visit.
Holland America Line has taken delivery of the ms Koningsdam, which becomes the first Pinnacle-Class ship in its fleet. The signing ceremony took place at the Fincantieri Marghera shipyard in Italy. Following the signing, the Dutch flag was raised on the ship for the first time. The Koningsdam is registered in the Netherlands.
The ship will soon make its maiden voyage to Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy, on April 8. The Koningsdam's inauguration will take place in Rotterdam, Netherlands, on May 20.
“Today is a day of celebration for the Holland America Line family and a milestone in our company’s history. We are proud to welcome the Koningsdam to our fleet,” said Orlando Ashford, President of Holland America Line. “The Koningsdam is a spectacular ship, exceeding our expectations, and we want to thank everyone who participated and contributed to the project, sharing their vision with us.”
In addition to the May festivities, the ship will return to its home port of Amsterdam and embark on a series of itineraries in Europe and the Baltic, before returning to the Mediterranean in September. In the fall, it will sail across the Atlantic Ocean, arriving in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with its home port being Port Everglades. Also during this autumn season, it will explore the Caribbean islands.
The ms Koningsdam will be able to accommodate 2,650 guests, and is already considered the most innovative ship in the Holland America Line.
Onboard the ship, guests can enjoy the Sel de Mer restaurant, a French brasserie serving seafood, and a culinary experience presented by the Culinary Arts Center and Food & Wine magazine. Traditional Dutch cuisine will be served at the Grand Dutch Café, and the Lido Market restaurant has been redesigned. Finally, in the central dining area, guests will find the Pinnacle Grill, the Italian restaurant Canaletto, and the Asian restaurant Tamarind.
As for entertainment, there will be live musical shows and amazing new performances.
