The Port Authority of Ceuta hopes to receive visits from new cruise companies next year, with whom it has made contact at Seatrade in Florida.
The Port Authority's president, José Torrado; the head of the Economic and Financial Department, José María Carrasco; and the head of Sales and Marketing, Víctor M. Jiménez, traveled to the port. As part of their preparations, they contacted representatives of shipping companies of interest to the Port Authority. Once there, they spoke with numerous key executives from these shipping companies, specifically the itinerary directors who ultimately determine the ports of call for each of their cruise ships.
Ceuta was represented at the stand set up by the Spanish Tourism Office, which housed representatives from all of Spain's Port Authorities who had traveled to the event. Additionally, an institutional breakfast organized by the Spanish Tourism Office provided an opportunity to speak with representatives of new companies that Ceuta is interested in attracting. These included Celebrity Cruises, Holland America Line, Carnival Corporation, Royal Caribbean International, The World, Silversea, and Pullmantur.
On April 1st, the port of Ceuta will receive the Rotterdam cruise ship, operated by Holland America Line. It measures 238 meters in length, 32 meters in beam, and has a draft of almost 8 meters. The Rotterdam is carrying approximately 1,400 passengers, mostly British and American, and a crew of over 600 from various countries. The Rotterdam's previous port of call before arriving in Ceuta will be Ajaccio, the capital of Corsica. The ship is being handled by the shipping agent Salama.
