TUI Cruises' first ship, the Mein Schiff 1, will become part of Thomson Cruises in 2018, the Hamburg-based operator of the ship said in a statement.
The ship will operate in the 2017-18 winter season in Asia, with its last trip of the season being a 42-night cruise from Singapore to Palma de Mallorca, departing on February 1, 2017.
Thomson Cruises is part of TUI AG, the German-British tour operator, which holds a 50% stake in TUI Cruises. TUI has stated its intention to renew Thomson Cruises' fleet of five ships with more modern tonnage.
This summer, Thomson Cruises will receive the Splendour of the Seas vessel from Royal Caribbean International, which will be renamed Thomson Discovery.
