The advisor presented this initiative as part of the strategy to increase business share in this growing segment.
Andalusian ports have launched the brand Andalucía Cruises to promote themselves jointly as part of a strategy to focus on this growing segment and expand their market share. The Minister of Tourism and Sport, Javier Fernández, presented a report at the Palmeral cruise terminal in the port of Málaga, confirming the growth in both ships and passengers last year. Specifically, the report places the region fourth in Spain in terms of passenger traffic at its ports, accounting for 11% of the total, preceded by Catalonia, the Balearic Islands, and the Canary Islands. "Andalusia's volume is double that of the Valencian Community, with 841,000 cruise passengers," Fernández stated, emphasizing that the report dispels the myth that these travelers don't spend money at their destinations, showing an average expenditure of €41.60.
The goal pursued by the Andalusian Government is to emphasize this new brand to build tourist loyalty through the cruise segment, in which three out of four travelers are foreigners, with the United Kingdom, Germany and France being the most prominent.
