Cunard presents its new onboard cocktail: Transatlantic Love Story

The historic shipping company continues its 175th anniversary celebrations with the launch of a new gin-based cocktail, Transatlantic Love Story, inspired by the company's iconic transatlantic voyages. The new cocktail features  Liverpool Gin, the acclaimed English gin. The organic spirit of the cocktail makes its debut in the Cunard fleet aboard the three Queens.

The new cocktail, created by award-winning Liverpool bartender Joe Wild, draws inspiration from Liverpool, the spiritual home of Cunard, and the role the shipping company has played in connecting both sides of the Atlantic. It's a legacy Cunard proudly continues today, offering the only transatlantic cruising program aboard its flagship, the Queen Mary 2.

The 27-year-old bartender, currently working at one of Liverpool's most exclusive bars, 81 LTD , explains his inspiration for choosing the ingredients and the joy he felt at being selected to create this special cocktail to mark Cunard's 175th anniversary.

“When selecting the ingredients, I considered the close historical relationship between Cunard and Liverpool, as this would dictate the flavors of this cocktail. Starting with the lemon, inspired by Liverpool’s Lime Street Station and the Bourbon fog, which perfumes the drink so that guests can literally smell America on the horizon.”.

“Being able to use locally sourced ingredients like Liverpool Gin simply enhances the flavors and creates a truly distinctive drink that guests can enjoy during this special year and on future occasions. In short, it’s absolutely delicious,” Wild added.

Liverpool Gin is a high-quality organic product made from certified organic botanicals of total purity, resulting in a highly distinctive and aromatic spirit. This key ingredient in the anniversary cocktail will also be available on its own to enjoy aboard the Cunard fleet. On Saturday, July 4, Liverpool will once again be the perfect setting for celebrations. The Queen Mary 2 will set sail for New York from the banks of the Mersey, commemorating the cruise line's first transatlantic voyage, and will offer the cocktail to all guests.

“As we continue to celebrate this anniversary, we are looking for new ways to enhance the guest experience on board,” said Richard Meadows, president of Cunard North America. “We are very excited about this very special cocktail and its significance.”

Guests traveling with Cunard can enjoy the Transatlantic Love Story cocktail made with Liverpool Gin at the stunning observation deck cocktail bar, the Commodore's Club. This unique venue for every Cunard queen offers spectacular panoramic views and a sophisticated ambiance where passengers can gather for pre-dinner cocktails, canapés, and live piano music each evening.

The transatlantic love story cocktail will be available on board the Queen Mary 2 on Saturday, July 4, on board the Queen Elizabeth on July 14, and on board the Queen Victoria from July 19.
