Last May was confirmed as the best month in the history of the Port of Cádiz Bay for cruise traffic. With 46 port calls and 61,776 passengers, it surpassed its own monthly record, previously set in October 2010, with 45 ships and 59,478 cruise passengers.
In the last 15 years, the number of cruise ships has multiplied by 5.8 and the number of passengers by 2.3; going from 124 port calls and 72,014 cruise passengers in 2001, to 294 ships and 420,000 passengers expected for this year.
In the first five months of 2015, 111 ships and 158,845 tourists were recorded, representing an increase of 12 percent in port calls and 20 percent in passengers compared to the same period of the previous year.
Twenty-six cruise ship calls are scheduled for June; 18 in July and 28 in August. Thirty-seven cruises are expected in September; 33 in October; 25 in November; and 16 in December.
If the forecasts are correct, 2015 will end with a new record in passenger numbers and one of the best figures in stopovers in its history.
