Princess Cruises has been a frequent visitor to Le Havre for many years. According to records from the Le Havre Cruise Club, Princess Cruises has visited the port of Le Havre 200 times since 1994. To commemorate this milestone, local representatives in Le Havre are hosting a celebration on May 20, 2015, featuring the Royal Princess as the ship.
Captain Nick Nash and his officers welcomed local authorities aboard for a plaque-changing ceremony. Valérie Conan, from the Le Havre Cruise Club, presented Captain Nash with a metal sculpture symbolizing the Le Havre skyline and its iconic landmarks. She mentioned that a Princess Cruises ship makes regular visits to Le Havre every year. This year, the Royal Princess is visiting for the tenth time, and next year the Caribbean Princess will take over. In addition to the popular excursions to Paris and Normandy, the local representative highlighted Le Havre's many assets, noting that it has much to offer Princess passengers, especially its UNESCO-recognized contemporary architecture, the beautiful MUMA (Museum of Impressionism), which houses the largest Impressionist collection in France after the Musée d'Orsay in Paris, excellent shopping, and the lovely waterfront promenade. She also emphasized Le Havre's numerous other attractions, highlighting the city and port's 500th anniversary in 2017.
