This is the first time this MSC Cruises ship has made a stop in the city after undergoing the Renaissance Program.
The port of Vigo today welcomed MSC Sinfonia from MSC Cruises, after undergoing a comprehensive renovation process as part of the Renaissance Program, valued at €200 million, which included the addition of a new 24-meter pre-built central section with 193 extra cabins.
The ceremony was held today in the Port of Vigo aboard the MSC Sinfonia and was attended by Ignacio López-Chaves Castro, President of the Vigo Port Authority, as well as representatives from other authorities. López-Chaves welcomed the ship to the Port of Vigo and expressed his gratitude for the confidence MSC Cruises has placed in the Vigo harbor, while also affirming that "the Port of Vigo is proving itself to be one of the most important cruise destinations on the Atlantic coast." He added that the port authority he heads "continues to invest in Vigo as a port of call," and proof of this is that "Vigo has superb conditions that even other ports worldwide do not possess." “The world’s leading shipping companies continue to invest in Vigo, thanks to the intensive commercial work carried out year after year by the Vigo Port Authority, as well as the high levels of safety at its facilities, something that the shipping companies themselves increasingly demand,” he explained. After its stop in this Galician port, the vessel will continue sailing towards more northerly latitudes to operate itineraries in Northern Europe during the summer season.
The newly refurbished MSC Sinfonia is now longer and more elegant, featuring a new water park on deck 13 as well as new dedicated children's areas created in partnership with Chicco® and LEGO®, including new Baby Club, Mini Club, Young Club, and Teens Club. MSC Cruises has also redesigned the onboard dining experiences, extending the buffet hours to 20 hours a day, opening new spaces and a new lounge area, and adding a larger restaurant. The ship's wellness area, MSC Aurea Spa, has also been expanded and now features new massage cabins.
