Leading Spanish and European travel agents will receive this immersive technology tool to support their sales efforts
MSC Cruises, the world's largest privately owned cruise company and leader in the Mediterranean, and prominent technology company Samsung have developed an innovative tool that generates immersive virtual reality tours of MSC Cruises ships.
Following its presentation at Expo 2015, which opens next Friday, May 1, MSC Cruises will make this innovative technology available to leading Spanish and European travel agents, enriching the way the MSC Cruises experience is presented to customers during the sales process.
Through Samsung Gear VR virtual reality glasses and a specially designed software application, prospective passengers can explore many of the highlights of the MSC Cruises experience even before boarding. This project is yet another example of MSC Cruises' ongoing commitment to technological innovation and collaboration with leading brands.
During the experience, guests can freely "walk" through six of the ship's main areas, including cabins, the pool area, and restaurants. They can even take a seat in the ship's theater and enjoy one of the dazzling shows that are part of every MSC Cruises program. Furthermore, the 360° sensory technology also allows guests to perceive the delightful aromas of, for example, fresh fruit, rosemary and basil, freshly baked bread, or chocolate that waft through the air in MSC Cruises' restaurants.
This ambitious project will be presented to the millions of visitors expected at Expo 2015, for which MSC Cruises is the Official Cruise Company. Expo 2015 will take place from May 1 to October 31.
MSC Cruises' stand, number 139 and located in Hall H24 at Expo 2015, will offer a wide range of virtual experiences thanks to Samsung's Gear VR headset with Oculus technology, as well as software and hardware specially designed by AxedGroup. The virtual tour application, which will run on a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 smartphone, will immerse the viewer in an incredibly realistic experience.
Other virtual experiences currently under development will also allow users to explore MSC Cruises' ship prototypes currently under construction. These include the MSC Meraviglia, a highly versatile vessel that will be able to access all ports and will enter service in 2017 with homeports in Genoa, Marseille, and Barcelona, as well as the MSC Seaside, a paradise for sun lovers that will be based year-round in the Caribbean with departures from Miami starting in winter 2017.
Just as it did with Samsung and Expo 2015, MSC Cruises partners with multiple global brands that are synonymous with excellence in their respective sectors. For example, the Eataly adds its haute Italian cuisine, based on the use of exceptional ingredients, to the fleet's extensive dining options, while collaborations with Chicco and the Lego Group stem from MSC Cruises' commitment to creating unforgettable vacations for children and families.
