INTRODUCTION:
The number of cruise passengers passing through Tenerife's ports in recent years has increased overall, exceeding 848,159 cruise passengers in 2014. This clearly demonstrates the importance of port infrastructure for the sector's development and the need to offer local tourism services adapted to cruise market trends. Shipowners themselves continue to invest in the Canary Islands as a destination and point out that the diversity of destinations within the islands presents a new opportunity to boost passenger visits to Tenerife.
OBJECTIVE:
In collaboration with cruise lines, shipping agents, and tour operators, the TENERIFE CRUISE FORUM will explore the business opportunities that cruise traffic can offer Tenerife and the Canary Islands. The discussion will focus on how the port, the support industries, the destination itself, and tourism services have prepared to ensure the satisfaction of the modern cruise passenger, provide insights into an industry that stimulates the economies of cruise destinations, and delve into the key factors in reducing the sector's seasonality.
