Thomson Cruises presents its Summer Program 2016

Thomson Cruises today revealed its new program for summer 2016, announcing the itineraries for the latest addition to its fleet, which will be called Discovery and will depart from Palma (the former Splendour of the Seas).

The new program also includes eight new ports of call.

Currently sailing as Splendour of the Seas for Royal Caribbean International, the ship will join the Thomson fleet next season, which established its headquarters in Palma for the summer of 2016 following a rebranding and refurbishment program. The latest addition to the Thomson fleet will have a capacity of 1,830 (double occupancy) across 915 cabins, nearly 40 percent of which will have balconies.

The new ship's itineraries will include some of Europe's most popular destinations. These include Livorno in Italy (via Florence and Pisa), Villefranche in France (via Monaco and Nice), and Barcelona and Cádiz (via Seville) in Spain. Customers, particularly families, will be able to make the most of the program with travel and flights from 19 regional airports across the UK and Ireland on Saturdays.

Malaga will be the new home port of the Thomson Spirit for the summer of 2016. Its itineraries will include new ports of call, including Vigo (via Santiago de Compostela) and Marseille in France.

Thompson will continue the Celebration by sailing from Dubrovnik and offering the Adults-Only Cruise for the summer of 2016, following the successful introduction of this year's program. Next summer, the ship will have an overnight homeport stay in Croatia.

Thomson Majesty will depart from Palma during the summer of 2016, with passengers exploring the Western Mediterranean. The Catalan itinerary includes overnight stays in Ibiza and Barcelona. This itinerary, which does not include days at sea, is based on Thomson's promise to maximize guests' time ashore, with late nights to enjoy the evenings.

To enjoy the popular Greek islands, the Dream ship will visit Corfu and its four itineraries include sailing to the unmissable Mykonos, Santorini and the new port of Syros.

Thomson Cruises will offer guests the opportunity to add a stay in central locations in Corfu, Palma, and Malaga for those seeking a relaxing city break. The cruise and stay program is perfect for those who want to spend more time exploring a port or a new destination.

Helen Caron, CEO of Thomson Cruises, said: “The Discovery will be a fantastic addition to our fleet, and we look forward to welcoming guests on board so they can experience it for themselves. The ship’s introduction is part of our ongoing modernization and transformation strategy, which has included recent investment in our other ships. This latest addition is larger than the others in our fleet; however, it still fits with our strategy of operating smaller ships with must-do itineraries. Starting next summer, these itineraries on the Thomson Discovery will be highlighting prominent European destinations such as Rome, Florence, and Barcelona.”.

Thomson Cruises will deliver its 2016/17 winter season cruise planning through its Facebook community.
