Navantia has signed a framework agreement with Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. for repair, revitalization, modernization, and other services for its fleet. Royal Caribbean Ltd. is a global cruise company that operates Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, Pullmantur, Azamara Club Cruises, and CDF Crosières de Francia, as well as TUI Cruises through a 50/50 joint venture.
The relationship between Navantia and Royal Caribbean began in 2011 with the revitalization of the cruise ship “Splendour of the Seas.” This vessel was a pivotal project for Navantia, not only because it strengthened the relationship with Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., but also because it spurred the implementation of new processes and procedures aimed at increasing the standards, logistics, and timelines required for these complex projects.
The success of the work carried out on board this ship led to a large number of subsequent repair and revitalization programs for Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., including GRANDEUR OF THE SEAS, AZAMARA QUEST, EMPRESS, SERENADE OF THE SEAS, BRILLIANCE OF THE SEAS, VISION OF THE SEAS, MEIN SCHIFF-2, ZENITH, CELEBRITY EQUINOX and SOVEREIGN
This agreement, signed at the Cadiz shipyard by Kevin Douglas, Vice President of New Construction and Technical Projects at RCL and Esteban Garcia Vilasanchez, Director of Programs at Navantia, will apply to the repair, revitalization and modernization of Navantia's European cruise ship fleet.

The signing and execution of this agreement includes the current revitalization of the ship “Explorer of the Seas”, currently in the shipyard, and the dry-docking of the cruise ship “Allure of the Seas”, next May, as well as the dry-docking, repairs and revitalizations of other cruise ships until 2017.
