Last Friday was a big day for Royal Caribbean as a new ship, the Anthem of the Seas, officially joined its fleet, which now totals 23 ships.
Richard D. Fain, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., officially received the new ship from Bernard Meyer, Managing Partner of the Meyer Werft shipyard, at a ceremony held in Bremerhaven, Germany. The Anthem of the Seas is the most revolutionary ship in the world, reflecting Royal Caribbean's commitment to innovation and pushing the boundaries of cruise and vacation design.

The Anthem of the Seas will be based in Southampton, UK, until October, from where it will visit the Mediterranean and the Canary Islands. The ship will be inaugurated in Southampton on April 20th, and its godmother, travel agent Emma Wilby, will christen it at an event attended by 1,300 people from around the world. In November, it will move to New York, where Cape Liberty will be its home port, from which it will regularly sail to Bermuda, the Caribbean, and Canada and New England.
Passengers aboard this ship can enjoy incredible new features such as a skydiving simulator, a observation crane that lifts passengers over 90 meters high for breathtaking views, state-of-the-art entertainment areas with the largest indoor sports and entertainment complexes at sea, bumper cars, ice skating, and much more.
They can also savor the extensive culinary offerings of its 18 restaurants, as well as the shows and performances in the Music Hall, Royal Theater, and Royal Esplanade.
The Anthem of the Seas has 16 decks, a gross tonnage of 167,800, a capacity for 4,180 passengers at double occupancy, and 2,090 staterooms.
