Silversea presents its 2015/16 culinary cruises

The secrets of the best culinary techniques and wine pairing are a key part of this enrichment program.

Luxury cruise line Silversea continues its enrichment programs with gastronomy as the main ingredient and presents 26 trips with a culinary and wine focus; four of them combining the two specialties, which will take place between 2015 and 2016.

“Our culinary and wine tours add an extra dimension that enriches our passengers’ experience and allows them to deepen their knowledge of the culture of each region,” says Tina Kierfel, President of Silversea for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.

Silversea is once again offering its "L'École des Chefs" culinary cruises in partnership with Relais & Châteaux. This innovative program at sea, offered completely free of charge, provides a special culinary curriculum, including hands-on instruction and entertaining events. It is led by acclaimed culinary instructor David Bilsland, former professor at the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu cooking school in London.

The program features specialized workshops covering a wide range of topics: from kitchen knife cutting techniques and basic culinary terminology to sauces and baking techniques; cooking demonstrations with wine pairings and interactive Q&A sessions; lively cooking competitions between Chef Bilsland and the ship's own kitchen team; a "Lunch and Learn" event offering small groups the chance to sample a delicious meal of specially prepared dishes; and inspiring recipes with a special twist that passengers can use to impress their own guests back home.

Also offered on certain trips, when the itinerary allows, is a "From Market to Plate" experience: a guided tour of a local market to buy fresh ingredients, followed by a cooking class on board or in one of the Relais & Châteaux establishments.

 Wine cruises

On every wine cruise, discerning travelers and wine enthusiasts will enjoy tastings of exceptional vintages and learn about the tradition and art of winemaking through complimentary tastings and lectures led by Silversea 's wine ambassador , Lawrence d'Almeida, a wine production expert and former winemaker. Depending on the itinerary, passengers may also have the opportunity to explore some of the world's most renowned wine regions on optional guided excursions. And, as with all Silversea voyages , they can also enjoy a complimentary selection of red and white wines paired with lunch and dinner.

 Unique pairings

Passengers can indulge in the perfect combination of culinary and wine enrichment programs on select cruises, including two Silver Spirit voyages: a 15-day transatlantic crossing from Barcelona to Fort Lauderdale departing November 9, 2015, and a 21-day voyage from Barbados to Buenos Aires departing January 25, 2016
