MSC Cruises News Update
Regarding the tragic events that have taken place in Tunisia, MSC Cruises confirms the following:
One of our ships, MSC Splendida, was docked in the port of La Goulette (Tunisia) with 3,714 passengers and 1,267 crew members.
At the time of the incident, some of the MSC Splendida passengers were on shore excursions, including visits to the Bardo National Museum.
Consequently, all MSC Cruises coaches that were on excursions at the time of the events have been ordered to return to port immediately and all other activities on land have been suspended immediately.
Passengers are currently continuing to return to the ship. The ship's departure, which was scheduled for tonight, has been postponed. Therefore, local authorities have implemented enhanced security measures in the port and around the ship to ensure the safety of MSC Cruises passengers and crew.
An MSC Cruises team, comprised of company ownership representatives, management, and a dedicated support team, is en route to Tunisia to provide all possible support to passengers on board and to work closely with local authorities.
MSC Cruises is in contact with relevant national and international authorities, as well as local authorities, the ship's captain, and the port agent to closely monitor the situation and its developments.
