As part of its successful maiden MSC Grand Voyage 33-night trip between Dubai and Perth (Australia) and following its passage through Asia, MSC Orchestra has arrived in Sydney, where it has received a warm welcome from its inhabitants.
MSC Orchestra celebrated its Australian debut in Brisbane on March 15 before continuing its voyage to the legendary Sydney Harbour, where it saw the world-famous Sydney Opera House and iconic Harbour Bridge reflected in the waters before finally docking at the Overseas Passenger Terminal. MSC Orchestra's arrival in Sydney marked the culmination of MSC Cruises' first voyage to the other side of the world.
The MSC Orchestra's stopover in Sydney has not only allowed travelers to enjoy magnificent views over the city's iconic harbor, but has also given them the opportunity to take excursions to the World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains and admire the beautiful surrounding landscapes.
To commemorate its first port of call in the capital of New South Wales, the cruise line organized several welcome events throughout the day. The company invited leading Australian media outlets and travel agents to experience firsthand the unique Mediterranean-inspired cruise experience aboard MSC Cruises.
Lynne Clarke, Director of MSC Cruises Australia and New Zealand, commented: “We are truly honored to welcome MSC Orchestra to Australian waters at this important time for the company. It is a truly remarkable sight to see the ship pass under our iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge.” Ms. Clarke added: “The company is expanding beyond its core leadership in the Mediterranean as part of its €5.1 billion expansion plan launched in 2014.”
To celebrate the historic visit of the MSC Orchestra and give the ship a grand send-off, a fireworks display was organized for all of Sydney to enjoy. The soundtrack for the pyrotechnic show was "On a Night Like This" by Kylie Minogue and "Waltzing Matilda," a popular Australian song.
