The Cartagena Port Authority is participating this week in the International Cruise Summit in Madrid, accompanied on this occasion by several municipalities from the region.
The Port of Cartagena is collaborating on the fourth edition of the International Cruise Summit, the leading event for the cruise sector in Spain, which is being held in Madrid from November 12th to 13th.
This year, the Port of Cartagena is attending this important event alongside the City Councils of Cartagena, Murcia, Lorca, and La Unión, to present the latest developments in the main destinations for excursions organized when a cruise ship calls at the port.
This event reinforces Spain's position in the cruise sector, an industry that continues to grow globally and is expected to carry more than 22 million passengers in 2014. During the two-day summit, discussions will focus on the current state of a sector that, in 2013 alone in Spain, generated €1.23 billion in direct spending and more than 25,000 jobs, including direct, indirect, and induced employment.
The conference will feature representatives from over 120 companies worldwide and will open on Wednesday morning. The main topics will include the current and future state of the cruise industry, established destinations, and emerging markets. Other important topics for discussion included in the event program are logistics and port operations; infrastructure; communication and media in the cruise sector; shipbuilding trends; passenger profiles; and national and international markets.
