Luxury cruise company Silversea celebrates the start of the year with its well-known Around the World: an epic 115-day voyage that will begin on January 5, 2015 aboard the Silver Whisper and will visit 30 countries and 50 ports around the five continents.
This voyage is designed to delight travelers seeking to experience the most exotic and remote destinations in a unique way: waking up each morning in a different location and enjoying the attentive service of life on board. With only 382 passengers aboard, the Silver Whisper will depart from Los Angeles and sail the warm waters of the South Pacific to explore the idyllic islands of French Polynesia. It will then continue west to the stunning landscapes of Australia and north to the wonders of the South China Sea. From there, the journey continues to Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and across the Indian Ocean to the shimmering sands of the Seychelles. The ship will then tour some of Africa's most captivating destinations, including Mombasa, Zanzibar, Cape Town, Walvis Bay, and Dakar. The trip concludes with a relaxed journey to Fort Lauderdale, but not before stopping at the Caribbean islands of St. Lucia, St. Barts and Puerto Rico.
This Round the World brings with it exclusive events and opportunities to commemorate this luxury odyssey, such as a “Bon Voyage” gala reception that kicks off the journey, plus three exclusive events to complement the cruise for those passengers who complete the full 115-day trip: a reception cocktail and performance at the famous Sydney Opera House, a train journey through Sri Lanka to visit the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage – famous for its conservation work – and a tour of the magnificent Kirstenbosch National Botanic Garden in Cape Town.
These won't be the only surprises. This voyage also includes a dinner under the stars in the Namib Desert, as well as the opportunity to share the journey with distinguished experts on the destinations to be visited, academics, journalists, and other specialists who will lead various activities to immerse oneself in the local culture through cooking demonstrations, wine tastings, and regional specialties. And since no city is truly complete without experiencing its nightlife, the Silver Whisper will make overnight stops in Papeete, Sydney, Perth, Hong Kong, Ho Chi Minh City, Bangkok, Singapore, Mombasa, and Cape Town.
In addition, as with previous World Cruises, Silversea offers passengers the option of extending their trip with a 17-day pre-cruise Panama Canal crossing from Fort Lauderdale to Los Angeles, or continuing after the World Cruise from Fort Lauderdale to New York (3 days) or Southampton (15 days).
