A new point of connection with the port community for innovation projects.
The Balearic Islands Port Authority (APB) today presented the new Port Innovation Platform (PIP) with the aim of identifying opportunities for improvement in ports and their environment, reaffirming, leading and supporting joint projects in the field of innovation, so that they materialize successfully.
Through the new website innovacion.portsdebalears.com, which was presented this afternoon at the port of Palma to the port community, the aim is to respond to the application of the Smart Port concept, since most of the innovative projects and ideas that will be developed here will have the support of new technologies.
The presentation of the Port Infrastructure Platform (PIP) was attended by the President of the Port Authority of the Balearic Islands (APB), Alberto Pons; the Director General of Ports and Airports, Antonio Deudero; the Vice President of the Palma City Council's Municipal Innovation Institute, Guillem Navarro; the Vice-Rector for Innovation and Transfer at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), Jordi Llabrés; and the Head of the Quality and Innovation Department at the APB, Jorge Martín. Pons emphasized that the APB's ports "are leaders and offer excellent services, and that, therefore, the PIP will help us promote projects originating from the private sector." For his part, Jorge Martín, responsible for explaining the details of the portal, highlighted that the PIP is not just a website, but a tool for connecting users with the port, where projects of general interest will be shared for development by specially created working groups.
