The Costa Diadema, the new flagship of the Costa Crociere fleet, will be christened on November 7 in Genoa, becoming the true “Regina del Mediterraneo” (Queen of the Mediterranean).
For the first time, a travel agent will be chosen as "La Madrina della Regina" (The Queen's Godmother). More than 500 women from 50 countries have already applied to become the star of this unforgettable moment at the inauguration of the Costa Diadema. Applications are still open and can be submitted until September 15. A special committee from Costa Crociere, based in Genoa, will select the Godmother, along with her four bridesmaids, on October 15.
All travel agents who are partners with Costa Crociere (owners, directors, or sales staff of a travel agency working with the company) and who wish to submit their own application can do so by visiting the dedicated website www.madrinadellaregina.it. They must enter their Costa agency code and follow the instructions to complete the application form, which will be available in Spanish, Italian, French, German, and English.
Candidates applying for the position will need to upload their photos and answer three simple questions so we can get to know them better. The ideal Maid of Honor and bridesmaids should be proud to be Costa employees and to represent the company and its values. Therefore, they should be passionate about their work, cheerful, spontaneous, and able to convey a positive attitude.
The Godmother of the Costa Diadema will have an extraordinary experience on the evening of November 7th, when the ceremony will take place in the ship's elegant Emerald Theater. The "Godmother of the Queen" will sit next to the Captain of the Costa Diadema in the stalls, and at the most memorable and emotional moment of the ceremony, she will go on stage to pronounce the christening ritual: "I christen you Costa Diadema." Then, the Captain will respond, "In the name of God, Godmother, cut!" and the Godmother will have the honor of cutting the ribbon and breaking the bottle on the bow of the new flagship. After the christening, the Godmother will also be the guest of honor at the elegant gala dinner on board, seated at the head table.
As the 'Queen of the Mediterranean', the Costa Diadema will be deployed in the Mediterranean Sea. From November 10th until the end of the 2015 summer season, the new flagship will depart from Barcelona on seven-day cruises through the Western Mediterranean, with weekly stops in Palma de Mallorca, Naples, La Spezia, Savona, and Marseille. It will offer the opportunity to visit, in a single cruise, Naples and Florence, two of Italy's most popular cities, as well as beautiful Mediterranean destinations like Barcelona and Marseille.
