There are approximately 6,500 passengers and 2,600 crew members on board the three ships.
The Vigo terminal is repeating, for the second consecutive day, a triple stop of cruise ships in the heart of the city.
The Port of Vigo welcomed another triple cruise ship call on Wednesday, with over 9,000 people on board, including passengers and crew. As on the previous day, and for the second consecutive day, two of the ships, the MSC Opera and the MSC Orchestra, docked early in the morning at the Transatlantic Pier, while the Costa Mediterranea docked at the Commercial Pier.
The three ships are carrying approximately 6,500 passengers, mostly German, Portuguese, French, American, and Russian, as well as 2,600 crew members. The combined length of the three vessels exceeds 800 meters.
The first ship to arrive in Vigo was the MSC Opera, 251 meters long. It arrived at 8:00 a.m. from St. Peter Port (United Kingdom) and is scheduled to depart at 3:00 p.m., at which time it will set sail for Lisbon.
The MSC Opera shared a berth with the 294-meter-long MSC Orchestra. It arrived at 8:30 a.m. from Southampton and will depart Vigo at 6:00 p.m. to set sail for Lisbon. Meanwhile, the Costa Mediterranea docked at the Merchant Pier at 8:30 a.m. from Cherbourg and will depart for Lisbon at 6:00 p.m.
This triple cruise ship stop in the heart of the city takes place one day after yesterday's stop by the Celebrity Constellation, the Costa Pacifica and the Wind Surf, with more than 7,000 people on board.
The Port of Vigo is preparing for one of its peak months of the year, during which more than 56,000 visitors will arrive at its docks. The highlight will be the arrival, on September 27th, of the world's largest cruise ship, the Oasis of the Seas, which will call at only three ports on the Iberian Peninsula: Vigo, Barcelona, and Málaga. This underscores the Port of Vigo's global standing as a cruise port. The ship is 362 meters long and can carry up to 9,000 passengers.
