Ponant has reached a purchase agreement with Paul Gauguin Cruises, which operates a single ship in French Polynesia year-round.
Despite the acquisition, Paul Gauguin will continue to operate as an independent company based in Bellevue, Washington, with the same management team.
The French company, part of the Pinault family's Artemis group, is thus expanding beyond what its new construction plan allows, which, after this purchase, will have 14 ships in 2021.
The Paul Gauguin ship has a capacity for 332 passengers and operates routes from Tahiti with stops in Bora Bora, Moorea and other fascinating tropical destinations.
