The first initiative launched by Silversea Cruises in partnership with Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., Project Invictus, has increased Silversea's luxury offering to further enhance guests' cruise experiences.

As part of the largest investment in the company's history, Silversea is expanding and upgrading its ultra-luxury fleet. In addition to Silver Moon and Silver Dawn, which were announced prior to the launch of Project Invictus and are expected to join the fleet in 2020 and 2021 respectively, Silversea has ordered three new ships as part of Project Invictus: Silver Origin, which is being prepared to sail to the Galapagos Islands, and two Evolution-class ships. Extensive refurbishments were also carried out on Silver Whisper, while a more extensive refurbishment of Silver Wind, planned for summer 2020, will enhance its versatility for ice-crossing navigation thanks to a reinforced hull and the addition of Zodiacs.
A number of enhancements are being implemented to enrich the company's already exceptional culinary offerings . In addition to a welcome glass of champagne in their suites upon embarkation, guests now have complimentary Ars Italica caviar available 24 hours a day. Offered both in suites and at all Silversea restaurants, complimentary caviar is served to guests as an accompaniment to meals such as tartare and lobster. Maintaining a centuries-old tradition, Ars Italica is a leading caviar producer, employing sustainable techniques to cultivate the highest quality product and support the restocking of sturgeon in northern Italy. Caviar is among the premium ingredients that distinguish Silversea's onboard canapé selection, alongside foie gras, truffles, prawns, and macarons.
The quality of the ingredients is as high as ever, but guests' preferences are being catered for in larger quantities: on the Silversea fleet, around 180,000 bottles of champagne and 2,400 kg of caviar are consumed each year, a 340% increase for the latter. Approximately 66,100 kg of lobster are consumed annually, along with an increased abundance of other seafood delicacies, 66,100 kg of sirloin steak, 33,100 kg of rump steak, and 58,000 kg of fresh berries, including strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries. Guests particularly enjoy the extraordinary variety of meats on offer, from the Italian Piemontese served at the Italian restaurant La Terrazza, to the French Limousine at the French restaurant La Dame, and the American Angus at Atlantide.
With around 50 to 70 labels, the largest complimentary wine list at sea has also been updated, as Silversea adds more variety to its industry-leading selection, including more regional options to immerse guests in the culinary culture of the regions it sails. Over 670,000 bottles of wine are consumed on Silversea ships each year, including the most reputable labels from iconic winemakers and lesser-known bottles of exceptional quality, selected by Silversea's expert Wine Ambassador. Every major wine grape is represented, as part of a collection that encompasses wines from both the "old world" and the "new world," from Champagne to dessert wines. Many premium wines are also offered on the complimentary list at unusually competitive prices.
Another enhancement made possible by Project Invictus, and offered exclusively on board Silversea's Expeditions ships, is that guests will receive a complimentary DVD showcasing the highlights of their voyage. Produced by a professional onboard cameraman, the DVDs will highlight the immersive experiences offered by the cruise line, creating unforgettable memories for Silversea guests.
In addition, Silversea Cruises' television programming has been enhanced, meaning its in-suite entertainment is among the best at sea. As part of the upgrade, guests can now watch the most popular live football and basketball matches, among other significant broadcasts. Along with approximately 100 blockbuster movies, including roughly 20 new releases each month, guests enjoy 90 hours of destination information and tailored documentary content, plus an additional 150 hours of television programs.
“I am delighted to receive such positive feedback on Project Invictus from our guests,” says Roberto Martinoli, CEO of Silversea. “I am receiving emails daily from guests who appreciate the enhanced offering, as well as the exceptional service for which Silversea is renowned. It is clear that Project Invictus has had a significant impact since its implementation. I am proud to be the CEO of a cruise company that is so committed to the enjoyment of its guests.”.
