Carnival Cruise Line 's Carnival Freedom is preparing to return to service after completing a 35-day dry dock at the Chantier Naval de Marseille in Marseille, France. The ship features a new whale-tail funnel, an expanded casino, and other upgrades. Carnival has also opened bookings for its 2028-2029 season, with sailings from Norfolk, Virginia, through April 2029.
The new itineraries include cruises of between six and eight days through the Bahamas, Bermuda, the Eastern Caribbean and Canada, with stops at destinations such as Celebration Key, RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay, Grand Turk and Amber Cove, among others.
The Carnival Freedom's new funnel is shorter, allowing the ship to access more ports. During its dry dock stay, several onboard enhancements were also made, including a redesigned casino with over 100 additional slot machines, a renovated arcade, updated retail spaces, and improved accessibility throughout the ship.
The Carnival Freedom also sports Carnival's new bow emblem, called From Sea to Shining Sea, which celebrates the company's position as a leading American cruise line.
The ship will arrive in Barcelona on October 9 and will welcome its passengers for an eight-day Mediterranean cruise, before embarking on a 13-day transatlantic voyage as part of the Carnival Journeys series.
On October 30, it will arrive at Port Canaveral, Florida, where it will be based until May 2027, before moving to Norfolk, Virginia.
