Marella Cruises presents its 2028 summer cruise program, which includes a new Greek port, Patras. Passengers aboard the Marella Explorer will be able to discover this authentic Greek historical city, rich in archaeology, history, and art.
In addition, the program includes six new itineraries, including several repositioning cruises.
All summer cruises will go on sale on October 15, 2026. The new port of call, Patras, will be included throughout the season aboard the Marella Explorer, as part of the new "Greek Gems" itinerary, which is based in Corfu, Greece. Patras offers an authentic and less crowded Greek experience, combining a rich history, landmarks such as the Church of St. Andrew, and magnificent views over the Gulf of Patras.
It will be the first time that Marella Cruises sails to Greece's third largest city, starting in July 2028.
Meanwhile, the Marella Explorer 2, the company's adults-only ship, will offer the new seven-night "Spanish Shores" itinerary, with Málaga as its home port. The cruise will include stops in Málaga, Spain; Gibraltar; a day at sea; Ibiza; Mahón, Menorca; Palma de Mallorca; Cartagena; and Málaga. These cruises will begin operating in June 2028.
In addition, starting in April 2028, four new repositioning cruises will be offered:
- "Sail into Spring", aboard the Marella Explorer, with a 10-night voyage from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to Corfu and another 11-night voyage from Santa Cruz de Tenerife to Corfu.
- "Flavours of the Mediterranean", aboard the Marella Discovery 2, lasting five nights between Palma and Dubrovnik.
- "Transatlantic Treasures", aboard the Marella Explorer 2, with a 13-night voyage from Barbados to Malaga.
- "Atlantic Horizons", aboard the Marella Voyager, with a 13-night voyage from Barbados to Palma.
These repositioning cruises will include guest speakers, additional shows, new special performances, and more musical tributes.
The rest of the fleet will be based in various European destinations. The Marella Discovery and Marella Voyager will operate from Palma de Mallorca, while the Marella Discovery 2, the company's second adults-only ship, will be based in Dubrovnik, Croatia.
Marella Cruises has also expanded its cruise-plus-stay offering, providing customers with more options in different destinations. Passengers can choose from 119 hotels in Mallorca, Corfu, Dubrovnik, and Malaga as part of the cruise-plus-stay package, with operations departing from 22 airports in the UK and Ireland.
Chris Hackney, CEO of Marella Cruises, said: “We are building on the continued popularity of our main homeports for summer 2028. Demand for our Eastern Mediterranean cruises remains strong, with summer 2027 already exceeding last year’s figures. We will also be returning to Malaga for another summer season, following the success of previous sailings from the region.”.
“We are always looking for opportunities to offer our customers new destinations, and Patras is a very exciting addition to our program. Along with new itineraries and expanded cruise-plus-stay options, summer 2028 will offer our customers even more possibilities when planning their next cruise.”.
Marella Cruises offers its customers a standard all-inclusive package, with all gratuities and service charges included in the price, so they can enjoy an exceptional level of service.
