MSC Cruises ' MSC Musica has entered the Palumbo Malta Shipyard for a 45-day renovation that will include the addition of an MSC Yacht Club, new restaurants, and improvements to various public spaces.
The vessel, with a gross tonnage of 92,400 tons, arrived at the shipyard in early September and is undergoing these works as part of a renewal program that includes four ships in the fleet.
One of the most notable changes will be the addition of the MSC Yacht Club concept, the company's exclusive space that offers an onboard experience, with 63 suites and a range of private facilities.
Most of the new accommodations at the Yacht Club will be created by combining several existing cabins.
The complex will also feature an exclusive restaurant, lounge and solarium reserved for Yacht Club guests.
MSC Cruises will also incorporate two specialty restaurants during the renovation, with concepts that are already available on other ships in the company's fleet.
Among them will be Butcher's Cut, the cruise line's steakhouse, and Kaito Sushi Bar.
Changes will also be made to the ship's wellness and fitness facilities.
A new fitness center and gym will be created in the space formerly occupied by the ship's nightclub, while the MSC Aurea Spa will undergo a major renovation.
The work will represent a significant upgrade for the MSC Musica, which entered service in 2006 and has a capacity for approximately 2,550 passengers.
The ship is scheduled to leave the Palumbo Malta Shipyard in early November and will subsequently reposition itself towards South America without passengers.
After crossing the Atlantic, the MSC Musica will resume its commercial activity in Brazil on November 16, 2026.
Initially, it will offer three- and four-night cruises with stops in destinations in the state of Rio de Janeiro, including Búzios and Ilha Grande.
At the end of December, the ship will move to the southern coast of Brazil to operate a seven-night cruise program departing from Paranaguá and Itajaí.
These itineraries, which will continue until March, will include stops in Ilhabela, Ilha Grande, Búzios, and Rio de Janeiro. Passengers will also be able to embark in Rio de Janeiro.
After the season in South America, the ship is scheduled to return to Europe in mid-April 2027.
The MSC Musica will then begin a program in the Western Mediterranean, with seven-night cruises and stops in destinations in Spain, France and Italy until the end of October 2027.
