To mark the United States' 250th anniversary in 2026, Holland America Line is launching a celebration that will include exclusive programs and collaborations with American brands deeply rooted in the country's history. In addition, a special seven-day cruise, "America's 250th Celebration: Stars and Stripes," will set sail on July 4, 2026, combining tradition, history, and a program specially designed for the occasion.
Through this commemorative journey and strategic alliances with historic brands like Pan Am —with more collaborations planned for 2026—, Holland America connects the country's rich legacy of tradition and innovation with meaningful experiences at sea, based on heritage and craftsmanship.
“The 250th anniversary of the United States is a milestone that deserves to be celebrated with intention, and we are proud to partner with historic American brands to honor the nation’s rich history,” said Kacy Cole, Chief Marketing Officer of Holland America Line. “Through these collaborations and carefully curated programming, we want to commemorate America’s past, present, and future in a uniquely Holland America way, reflecting our legacy of exploration and authentic experiences.”.
As part of the celebration, Holland America Line is collaborating with iconic U.S. brands. Through its partnership with Pan Am, the cruise line recently announced the 28-day “Legendary Voyage Pan Am 100th Anniversary,” which will set sail in 2027. Inspired by Pan Am’s historic Clipper routes, the voyage celebrates the golden age of global travel and will visit 18 ports along the legendary Grand Circle route, which traversed the entire Caribbean and laid the foundation for modern travel in the region.
In the months leading up to the milestone of July 4, 2026, new collaborations and limited-edition products will be unveiled as a special tribute to the 250th anniversary of the United States.
“America's 250th Celebration: Stars and Stripes” Cruise
Departing from Boston, Massachusetts on July 4, 2026, this seven-day commemorative cruise will celebrate the national anniversary with an elevated experience through a carefully curated selection of activities:
- Late evening departure from Boston and position yourself at the harbor to enjoy the fireworks over the historic skyline.
- Fourth of July celebration in the Lido area with picnic classics and traditional American summer flavors.
- Live musical experiences tailored with The Soundtrack of America, a journey through iconic musical genres of the country, along with The Great American Songbook, an evening concert that pays tribute to the great American composers.
- Additional activities such as a US-themed treasure hunt and a culinary demonstration featuring flavors and stories from American culinary tradition.
The cruise will also stop in key cities in US history, such as Norfolk (Virginia) and New York, where it will stay overnight.
Holland America has been part of American history since its founding in 1873 as an option for European immigrants seeking a new life in the United States:
- Between the 1880s and 1920s, it carried more than 10% of all third-class passengers to the U.S., setting new standards of service.
- During both World Wars, their ships were converted for military use, transporting Allied and American troops.
- In the 1920s, it was one of the first shipping companies to offer vacation cruises from the U.S. to the Caribbean.
- A pioneer in Alaska, it has been exploring its glaciers and wildlife for almost 80 years, longer than any other shipping company.
