Puerto del Rosario kicks off the 2025-2026 cruise season with the “Discover Puerto” initiative. This project, promoted by the City Council's Tourism Department and the Business Association, aims to boost commerce and tourism in Fuerteventura's capital.
With the arrival of the first cruise ships of the 2025-2026 season, the Puerto del Rosario Business Association celebrates the start of a new stage of commercial revitalization with the launch, for the second consecutive year, of the “Discover Puerto” initiative, financed by the Puerto del Rosario City Council through the Tourism area.
This project aims to enhance the experience of cruise ship passengers and boost spending in the city's open-air shopping districts. Among the planned initiatives is the tourist train, which will once again travel through the capital, making strategic stops at key historical, cultural, and commercial landmarks. In addition, tour guides will be on hand to greet visitors and provide information about local offerings, heritage sites, and available activities.
Meanwhile, Primero de Mayo street will once again be the setting for the Cruise Market, a space where local artisans and businesses can display their products, accompanied by musical entertainment to create a festive and welcoming atmosphere.
The mayor of Puerto del Rosario, David de Vera, emphasized that “the cruise season is a unique opportunity to showcase the best of our capital. The City Council continues to support initiatives that generate economic activity and highlight the identity and hospitality of our municipality.
For her part, the Councillor for Tourism, Rosa Rodríguez, emphasized that “Discover Puerto has proven to be an effective project for connecting the flow of cruise ship tourists with the commercial and cultural offerings of Puerto del Rosario. This year we are strengthening our information and transportation resources so that visitors can enjoy a more complete and comfortable experience.
Finally, Daniela Plotegher, president of the Puerto del Rosario Business Association, expressed her satisfaction with the continuation of the project and the benefits it brings to local businesses. “With Discover Puerto, businesses have the opportunity to reach thousands of visitors who, each season, discover the charm and quality of our local offerings.
